Dam Yankees, East River, New York CityIn response to the limited amount of public space in New York, “Dam Yankees” proposes a multileveled urban park on the river's edge of Manhattan and Brooklyn. Its major attraction is a new Yankee Stadium whose playing field sits on the riverbed between the two parks. Constructed like a dam, the stadium is accessed from below through a new subway station on the Canarsie Line and from above through bridges. In Manhattan, the park itself bridges over the FDR highway reconnecting the river’s edge with the urban fabric. |
